Day 8: Wednesday Addams

(Or: “Are they made from real Girl Scouts?”)

Last week, I talked about how much I love Morticia Addams. I also have a soft spot for Wednesday. Maybe it’s her all-black wardrobe, but it’s more likely her hilarious quips and inability to suffer fools:

Joel: Wednesday, do you think that maybe someday you might want to get married and have kids?

Wednesday: No.

Joel: But what if you met the right man, who worshiped and adored you? Who’d do anything for you? Who’d be your devoted slave? Then what would you do?

Wednesday: I’d pity him.

At minimum, you’ll need the following items:

  • pale foundation
  • concealer
  • taupe eyeshadow
  • black eyeliner
  • mascara
  • a black wig
  • black shirt layered on top of white collared shirt OR black dress with white peter pan collar

If you want to go all out, you can add in any of the items below:

  • her toy of choice: weapons

As I’m now getting tired of writing: I started out with the pale foundation. Next, I subtly lined my upper lashline with liquid liner, just to add a tiny bit of depth, and blended a taupe shadow around my eyes and in my crease. Because Wednesday doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, I added just the tiniest hint of mascara.

I put on the collared shirt and black sweater, and then put on the wig (this is only noteworthy because in so many other costumes, I accidentally did it the other way around and then had to readjust the wig after; I’m finally learning!). The most time-consuming part of the costume was getting the braids right. People with long hair: was this difficult just because it’s a wig, so I can’t really feel what I’m doing as well? I’d get it to look how I wanted and then find a chunk at the back that wasn’t in either of the braids. I think I tried about six times before I finally got it mostly right.

Something I didn’t have trouble with: Wednesday’s resting bitchface.
